Hi,
This is Simone Wicks, '01. I'm graduating from Harvard-Westlake this year, along with Edward Ji, Eric Hwang, Kenneth Park, Allen Miller, Alex Weinschanker, and Elizabeth Kim.

The 2001 class had a reunion this year at Christina Phillip's house. About half the grade showed up. We had a great time looking at yearbooks, reminiscing, and talking about our future plans.

Next year I'm attending the Marshall School of Business at USC. Robert Mendoza, Edward Ji, Lauren Mills, and L.B. McKinney will be attending USC as well.

Hopefully I'll visit the remaining teachers I had.

St. James’ School would like to thank Cynthia Eve Richards (Class of 1994) for donating a beautiful collection of ceramic miniature models of the twenty-one Spanish Missions in California, which are on display in the school’s Media Center. The Fourth Grade continues to study the missions each year and to visit the mission at San Juan Capistrano.

Hello,
My name is Kai Griffin, and I was amongst the first pupils enrolled at St. James’ School when it opened its doors with a single kindergarten class at Gramercy Place - I think it was 1968. I left the school at the end of 5th grade in 1974 because, unfortunately, I was the only remaining boy in a class of 4 or 5 girls! At that stage of St James' development, our class was always the highest in the school; with each passing year, the school added one more grade at the top, and the members of my class moved into it, together with any new enrollments.
I have many fond memories of St James, perhaps most vividly from that very first year, in wonderful Mrs. Werner's kindergarten class, particularly of her sing-along sessions. I even still sing from time to time - to the great annoyance of my wife - "Me-Le-Ke-Li-Ki-Ma-Ka is thing to say on a Hawaiian Christmas Day..." while doing the dishes... and this is entirely due to Mrs. Werner having taught it to us as children!
I now live with my wife Tracy and our 2-year old son Aleksi in north-eastern Italy, where we have lived for the past 5 years. My mother, Pia, who was actively involved in those early stages of St. James’, also lives close by. I am a co-director of an Australian company specializing in software for the airline industry (I lived in Australia for 23 years), but work remotely from our house here at the foot of the Italian alps. The world is certainly a lot smaller today than it was in the early 70's!
I am happy to see from your website that St. James’ has grown into a thriving school, and no doubt has long since grown out of the fun little house on Gramercy Place. If we should find ourselves in Los Angeles some day in the future, we will certainly call in advance to arrange a nostalgic visit.
Best regards,
Kai Griffin
