Music at St. James'

The music curriculum at St. James' nourishes the innate musical ability of every child and is one of the most advanced music programs of any elementary school in Los Angeles. From a very young age students engage in lessons with instructors using the Kodaly Method, wherein children develop musicianship and literacy by reading, writing, singing, moving, and playing instruments. Music becomes a regular and integral part of their lives; a language in which to become fluent, a tool for creative expression, and a world of sounds to be enjoyed for a lifetime.

This unique approach allows our students to gain confidence in music at a young age, allowing them the ability to tackle instruments of their choice by elementary school. St. James' offers two separate orchestras for children of varying levels, multiple options to participate in chorus of varying levels of skill and even a handbell choir for our oldest, sixth-grade students.
