The Great Gatsby Gala
The 2023 Spring Gala will raise funds to refurbish the library and help purchase new outdoor play structures for the elementary and preschool campuses.
2022 Spring Gala
One Night in LaLaLand
On Saturday, May 21st, 2022, hundreds of members of the St. James’ community came together to celebrate the gala theme of One Night In LaLa Land.
The school was transformed into local LA neighborhoods—Koreatown, Hollywood, Silverlake and Downtown. Tarot card readers, a typewriter poet, a silhouette artist, mini golf, photo booth and karaoke ‘room’ provided entertainment to compliment the food and drinks everyone enjoyed. With a silent auction including grade baskets generously donated by the school community, and a live raise on the night, the record-breaking gala raised close to $400,000. The 2022 gala funds will support the afterschool performing arts program including the Spring production taking place at the Wilshire Ebell Theater.
The new tradition of honoring leadership volunteers who have dedicated their time and talents to St. James’ went to Trustees, Rich Chisholm and Hubert T. Smith and President of the Parent Association, Clara Martin. Dr. Pat Thomas was also honored for her time leading the preschool as its Director extraordinaire.
One month prior, on April 21st, 2022, a philanthropic group of families enjoyed dinner in the garden at the Head of School House as sponsors of the gala. Their financial gifts entirely support the Beyond School program for the year ahead. Beyond School classes have grown from an initial offering of 10 classes in its inception trimester to nearly 60 classes this Fall.

Gala Committee Members
