Frequently Asked Questions
When is dismissal Wednesday?
Kindergarten & 1st Grade: 11:45 a.m.
2nd and 3rd graders: 12:00 p.m.
4th, 5th and 6th graders: 12:15 p.m.
When should students arrive?
Kindergarteners by 6:00 p.m to their classrooms (not St. James’ Hall)
St. James’ Children’s Choir by 6:15 p.m. to Mr. Casey's Room
Other students are asked to report to their classrooms by 6:30 p.m. Teachers will not be able to supervise students until 6:00 p.m., so please do not drop them off early.
What is the student dress code?
All students must arrive at school in semi-formal attire – no uniforms, please! See last year’s gallery for an idea of how students have dressed in the past.
When should parents arrive?
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for both the Church and the Parish Hall.
All parents should enter through the parking lot gate between the church and the school. Those seated in the Church will enter through the tunnel leading to the courtyard; those seated in Parish Hall will enter through the double doors facing the parking lot.
If you're seated in Parish Hall but would like the chance to be seated in the Church, come early: those first in line at the Parish Hall will be the first to be invited to change venues if there are seats available in the Church.
The worship service will begin at 7:00 p.m.; those arriving late to the church will not be admitted.
What if I need more than two tickets?
Seating at the pageant is limited; there is only so much room in the Church and Parish Hall. Please do not just show up with more guests than you have tickets! We will not be able to accommodate you.
Can I take pictures or record video or audio?
This is a sacred worship service, not a concert, so we ask that you honor the spirit of the event by refraining from taking your own recordings of the event – whether that's photos, videos, audio, IMAX 3D, or holographic renderings.
The school has arranged for video and photographic coverage of the event and will share the resulting media with you as soon as possible after the event.
Christmas is a time of giving, so how can I give to those less fortunate?
To help the poor, the hungry, and the homeless, we will take up a collection the evening of the pageant, and monetary donations of any size will be gratefully appreciated.
What happens at the end of the pageant? Where can I pick up my child?
At the end of the pageant, the 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade classes will sing for the group in Parish Hall (to give those parents the opportunity to see their students sing in person). Please keep the courtyard clear during this time to make this process as smooth as possible.
Afterwards, teachers will lead students to their classrooms, from which you can pick them up. Please do not grab your student on the way out of the church.
From all of us at St. James', we wish you and yours all the best in this Christmas season!
