St. James’ Parent Association Acknowledgements and Announcements
by Clara Martin, P.A. Executive Committee
As we approach the end of another school year, the St. James’ Parent Association Executive Committee would like to acknowledge the graduating families for their support, assistance, and dedication to our school over the years. Each and every parent makes such an important contribution to our community, and big or small, it all counts towards making St. James’ a special place!
We would especially like to thank Malisa Kaewmanaprasert, who will be leaving our Executive Committee this year as her daughter graduates 6th grade. Malisa’s organizational skills and love of our school community has touched so many places during her time with us. She is a quiet force who, with good humor and a welcoming spirit, has worked hard to find ways to make a difference and fill in the gaps where work needs to be done. Always dependable, always on time, always there when you need her – and always with a smile. She has run our Faculty Appreciation program for many years, serving meals to our faculty when they have to stay after school hours to attend a school event. She runs our Library Media Center program, coordinating parent volunteers to support our amazing library and staff. She also coordinates our annual P.A. meetings (which we carefully label as cocktail parties to ensure better turn out!). Thank you so much, Malisa, we will miss you!
We also want to welcome a new member to the Executive Committee for the 2016–2017 school year, Michael Armbruster. Michael is a parent of a Kindergartener and, while new to the school, has already done so much! He was a part of the initiative to upgrade the selection of books in our Library Media Center to better represent all types of family structures. He has also worked with Ms. Olague, our librarian, to regroup the books by type instead of by author to make them more accessible to our young readers. He will be a great addition to our team, and we look forward to working with him – and with all of you – to continue St. James’ great tradition of parent involvement and teamwork.
Visit Ms. Taylor’s class on Thursday from 9:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for Diagon Alley Market Day, a culmination of the class’s year-long Harry Potter theme and an annual 4th-grade favorite event. On sale: wands, spell books, tote bags, pillows, jewelry, and more. All student-made, and all awesome. Priced for every budget, there’s sure to be something to suit everyone’s fancy.
