- Samuel Robert D'Amico (1918-2018)
“My father would see as his greatest achievement the school at St. James,” said Tony D'Amico. “He had a vision of a school open to everybody in the community. He was proud of the racial and ethnic mix there and made sure scholarships were available. It was amazing at that time. It was a beautiful thing to see."Mrs. David will represent the school at the funeral on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at St. George's Church in Laguna Hills, CA. All are welcome to attend.

- Father Rowins Scholarship
The Father Rowins Scholarship Fund was originally created to help provide financial support for current St. James’ families who have fallen on difficult times financially. Whether a spouse has lost his/her job, or their business has closed, or a family has suffered other financial hardships, these one-time gifts of financial support help St. James’ families continue attending the school. Current St. James’ families are encouraged to apply for a gift from the Father Rowins Fund. If you have received a scholarship gift from the Father Rowins Fund in the past, you are not eligible to apply. If you are applying for Tuition Assistance from St. James’ for the 2018-2019 school year, please contact Najah Lowe (NLowe@SJSLA.org) in the Business Office to discuss your eligibility to apply for scholarship fund support.
Please complete the application (download here) and return it to the front desk lock box by the close of business on Friday, May 11th.
If you have any questions, please contact Najah Lowe (NLowe@SJSLA.org).
- ERB Spirit Week
from Ed Hermeno, Math Specialist,
and the Fifth Grade Spirit Squad
To help optimize student achievement on the upcoming E.R.B. tests, we have developed E.R.B. Spirit Week. We want to create excitement and positive energy during ERB Week(April 16-20)! Our 2nd-5th graders will be randomly divided into 4 student "houses."
Students earn team points by obtaining 8–10 hours of sleep, eating a healthy breakfast, and being at school on time (i.e. 8:15 a.m.).
Students have a color-coded sheet with this information. We ask that you read and sign the information sheet. Then, each day, please initial the chart on the back of the sheet so that students can earn "house points." It is the students' responsibility to return this COLOR-CODED form to his/her teacher daily.
Thank you in advance for your support and enthusiasm for E.R.B. Spirit Week!
