Around the World Food Fair

Announcements

- Around the World Food Fair: Donate a Dish!

On March 8 and 9 we will be celebrating the Around the World Food Fair! If you are interested in donating a dish celebrating your cultural heritage, or to volunteer your time please sign up here by March 5. Some guidelines on food donations below:

If you are donating to the Food Fair, please keep the following in mind:
•Please provide at least three-dozen moderate servings.
•Foods MUST NOT CONTAIN NUTS, and any other potential allergens should be listed on a card or label that can be posted with the food.
•On the day of the Food Fair, you may bring your item to drop-off, where it will be taken by volunteers, or you may bring the food to St. James' Hall at 11:00 a.m. (If food must be dropped off early, please note that there is no refrigeration available.)
•We encourage you to stick around for the fair and serve your food (or arrange for someone else to do so).
•Leftovers should be taken home or left as a donation to the St. James' Soup Kitchen.

- Safety Reminders

This week Debbi David wrote a letter to the St. James' Family, click here to see it in full. Some important safety reminders are below:

  • We created lanyards for parents with photo identification four years ago to protect our children.  Wear them; or we will deny you access to the school and the playground…because it’s the right thing to do for kids.

  • In the event of a mass evacuation from the school, students and teachers will eventually …when LAPD declares it safe…meet up at a remote location where you will be allowed to remove the children; but we will do so in an orderly manner to ensure that all children are accounted for before being released to anyone, even their parents.  Prepare to be patient.

  • We will never publish our evacuation routes or interim destinations lest the information fall into the wrong hands, so please don’t ask us for them.

  • In the event that a school lock-down is considered our best option, no one will be admitted once the school is locked.  We do that for the protection of your children.  If you come to school and demand that we hand over your child, we will not do it.   Stay away from the building; and do not put yourself or our children in danger.

- Lost and Found

Just inside the St. Andrews gate there is a very full Lost and Found rack! Our volunteers have been compiling every lost book, bag, and jacket. If you think your son or daughter is missing something, swing by and check out the bin before March 23, when the contents of the bin and rack will be donated to local charities.

- Amazon Smile

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support your favorite charitable organization every time you shop, at no cost to you. When you shop at smile.amazon.com, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as Amazon.com, with the added bonus that Amazon will donate a portion of the purchase price to your favorite charitable organization.
