Coming up on May 15, we hope you can join us for Night of the Arts at St. James’! We’ve modified the times of this event so please read the timeline below:

4:00 p.m. - Visual Arts Showcase in St. James’ Hall

5:30 p.m. - Call time for Grades 3-6 to classrooms

6:00 p.m. - Concert Begins in Church

7:15 p.m. - Approximate end time

Students participating in the concert should remain in their St. James’ uniforms for the performance.

Mark your calendars for May 10th at 10:30am! We’ll be introducing a brand new curriculum-based event, the  Social Studies Fair. On Thursday, May 9th and Friday, May 10th, we will still host our annual Around the World lunch featuring foods from various continents.  On Friday, May 10th beginning at 10:30 am, we invite you to visit the classrooms, Kindergarten - grade 6, to witness the teaching and learning inspired by our social studies curriculum.

We are pleased to announce that our annual Around the World Food Fair will take place this year on May 9 and 10. This is our opportunity to share and celebrate the cultural diversity of the St. James' community, and we're very excited to be able to bring it to you again.

We will celebrate Africa, Australia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Pacific on Thursday. On Friday, we will celebrate the Americas and Asia. The food served each day will be themed around that day's geographical focus. On May 10, we also invite you to join in a free dress day; come celebrating any aspect of your cultural heritage.

The event is coordinated by the Parent Association and our Food Fair chairs, Joanne Gratiot, Cecilia Lopez, Patrick Walling, and Erika Quinn. We invite you to sign up at SJSLA.org/atw to treat us to your own international specialties. We ask that you submit the online form as soon as possible, so that we can plan appropriately.

Don’t want to cook? Sign up to volunteer at SJSLA.org/ATW and we will find a place for you to help out.

In volunteering to provide food for the Food Fair, please keep the following in mind:

• Please provide at least three-dozen moderate servings.

• Foods MUST NOT CONTAIN NUTS, and any other potential allergens should be listed on a card or label that can be posted with the food.

• Please do not send in any serving utensils or dishes of great value. We will do our best to return all items to you, but it is better to be on the safe side!

• On the day of the Food Fair, you may bring your item to drop-off, where it will be taken by volunteers, or you may bring the food to St. James' Hall at 11:00 a.m. (If food must be dropped off early, please note that there is no refrigeration available.)

• We encourage you to stick around for the fair and serve your food (or arrange for someone else to do so).

• Leftovers should be taken home or left as a donation to the St. James' Soup Kitchen.

• You will likely hear from your Class Parent to ask if you'd like to volunteer to help make this event a success.

Please note that regular Hot Lunch has been canceled for May 9 and 10. If you think your child may not enjoy the international food offered, please send him or her to school with a sack lunch. You can contact Mrs. Gratiot at jgratiot@kpmg.com or Mrs. Lopez at delcarmen78@yahoo.com with any Food Fair questions you might have.

We look forward to seeing you at our Around the World Food Fair, and thank you, in advance, for helping to make this a wonderful event that represents the breadth and depth of the diversity of our community.

Last weekend, the 2nd and 4th Grade Girl Scouts, parents, and Miss Hamilton had a fun and successful day of camping at the 56th annual Girl Scout skills camp known as Sharp-Eze. At the weekend camp, the girls were tested on a wide range of Girl Scout traditions, knots and outdoor survival skills. Not to mention, the cooking and eating of s'mores.

From Science Specialist Ayanna Scott: “Matter Matters!” Students in 2nd Grade can define matter and discuss what the three states of matter are. They can also show you what molecules look like under a microscope in a solid state, liquid state, and a gas state.

How to Setup Your FACTS Account for 2019-20?

If you have already submitted your 2019-20 enrollment contract, your next step is to set up your online tuition payment plan for 2019-20 with FACTS Tuition Management. FACTS partners with our school's Business Office to process all tuition payments through your family's FACTS account. Tuition is scheduled and debited automatically per the payment plan chosen on the student contract.

Please be reminded that the deadline to create a FACTS account for 2019–20 tuition payments is Friday, May 24, 2019. If you have not done so already, please create an account today!

If you already have a FACTS account connected to St. James’ School, no further steps are necessary. Please just review and update your account when charges are added in June 2019.

If you are a returning family that has a new child entering the school, please do not create a new account. For your convenience, the school will add the incoming child to your existing FACTS account.

If you have any questions about Tuition Payment Plan or setting up your FACTS Tuition Management 2019-20 account, please contact Sue Periasamy at speriasamy@sjsla.org for troubleshooting please refer to the FACTS Instructions for 2019-20.

Looking forward to working with you! Please see below to learn more about FACTS.

What is FACTS Tuition Management Portal?

FACTS is an online tuition payment portal. Our policy to accept tuition and other fees is via FACTS portal as it is automatically collected per the payment schedule chosen by the parent. The first step for a new parent after the submission of both a contract and deposit is to set up a FACTS account. This account is a one-time set up with the student information and your personal bank information. The next step is for me to add tuition to your FACTS account and schedule payments per the payment plan chosen by you in the contract. FACTS will automatically debit your account on the day payment is scheduled. From time to time we may also add other fees like a late fee or NSF fee or late child pick up fee. You will be notified by FACTS via email if a fee is added to your FACTS account. Please make sure to provide an email when you set up your FACTS account.
