Husky Hits - Oct 30 2016

Stephen Hawking has posed the chronology protection conjecture, which is believed to prevent something from being in multiple spaces and times at once, this week St. James' Episcopal School has defied that! This week vegetables chopped in our preschool went out to nourish the homeless right here in Koreatown, our Head of School embarked on an intercontinental journey, and we celebrated the dedication of one of our most beloved teachers. Across thousands of miles and over the decades we are projecting our spirit and energy through the universe all at once!

- Soccer this Week

Unfortunately the first time we met TIOH on their home turf a week ago we didn't have enough to field a team and were forced to forfeit. But we still had a fun time scrimmaging by splitting up the teams and playing. But today we were at full force and had a chance to win some points back.

It was a perfect fall day and TIOH came to visit us this time! The first half the Huskies came on strong with John Zhang placing 3 in the back of the net for a well earned hat trick! TIOH of course answered back a few times of their own! But Gerald added one more to the board making the Halftime score, SJS 4 - TIOH 3.

After switching sides we got ready to do it all over again. SJS and TIOH took turns with John, Joshua and TIOH's Simon scoring goals. It was a nail-biting finish! With 1 minute left TIOHscored right before the final whistle to tie up the game. Final Score 6-6. Congrats to the Huskies for tying last year's first place team! Amazing teamwork from everyone playing today! Great goal tending by Roan backed up by a tenacious defense (Aneel, Kaitlyn and Audrey). Our midfield (Patrick, Joshua, Tripp, Colin) played both defense and offense feeding the ball to our key strikers (John, Gerald)

Go Huskies!

- Parent University

November 15, 8-10PM RSVP HERE

Topics will include:

"True Grit"

How many times do we just give up and tell our children the answer to a difficult math problem?  We do it more than we’d like to admit.  The fact that no one can go to sleep because of the incomplete math homework doesn’t help! This month in Parent University, Jonathan Dar discusses how we can help our children to take risks, persevere, and complete more of their math homework on their own.

"What Does God look Like?: Walking a spiritual path with children."

Whether you practice an ancient faith tradition, are spiritual, even if you are an Atheist, let's explore together the ways to nurture the sense of transcendence, awe, gratitude and compassion that are inherent in the spiritual quest we all share from birth.
